Engine Oil Life System

ENGINE OIL LIFE MONITOR
The Fluid Life Indexes are calculated by the PCM. The PCM uses many engine parameters to determine the percentage of fluid life remaining for the engine oil and transaxle fluid. The fluid life indexes are stored in the EEPROM of the PCM. When the PCM is disconnected from power these indexes will remain in memory. The indexes may not get stored if the PCM is disconnected from power within 30 seconds of the ignition being switched to OFF.

- The engine oil life index can be reset with a scan tool or with the reset function of the DIC. The DIC can reset engine oil life only to 100 percent. A scan tool can reset engine oil life in 10 percent increments.

- The transaxle fluid life index can be reset with the reset function of the DIC

RESET PROCEDURE
In order to reset the oil life index after an oil change, do the following with the ignition switch at RUN and the engine OFF.
1. Display the OIL LIFE LEFT parameter on the DIC by pressing INFORMATION/SKIP (digital cluster) or SKIP/INFO (analog cluster).
2. Press and hold the RESET/NO (digital cluster) or NO/INFO RESET (analog cluster) button until 100 is displayed (approx. 5 seconds).

Note: Reset the oil life index after each oil change even if the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message did not come on.
