Rear Compartment Lid Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Open the rear compartment lid.
2. Remove the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the license plate pocket. Refer to Rear License Plate Pocket Replacement (VJ6) () .
4. Remove the lock actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement () .
5. Remove the lock cylinder. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Cylinder Replacement () .
6. Unsnap the harness from the lid.





Caution: When a rear compartment lid hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

7. Remove the 2 bolts (3) at each hinge (4).
8. With an assistant, remove the lid assembly (1).



Installation Procedure

1. Install the lid lock actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement () .
2. Install the rear compartment lock cylinder. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Cylinder Replacement () .




3. With an assistant, install the lid (1) to the hinges (4).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

4. Install the 2 bolts (3) to each hinge (4).

Tighten the bolts to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

5. Snap the electrical harness into the lid (1).
6. Connect the electrical connectors to the lock actuator.
7. Connect the snap connector to the harness.
8. Install the license plate pocket. Refer to Rear License Plate Pocket Replacement (VJ6) () .
9. Install the rear compartment lid trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement (Service and Repair) .
10. Close the rear compartment lid.
