Aluminum Wheel Porosity Repair

1. Remove the tire and wheel.
2. In order to locate air leaks, inflate the tire to 275 kPa (40 psi) and dip the tire into a water bath.
3. Mark the leaking areas.
4. Remove the tire from the wheel.
5. Scuff the inside surface at the leak area with 80 grit sandpaper.
6. Clean the leak area with a general purpose cleaner.
7. Apply a 3.2 mm (1/8 inch) thick layer of adhesive/sealant to the leak area. Let the adhesive/sealant dry for 12 hours.

CAUTION: To avoid serious personal injury, do not stand over tire when inflating. The bead may break when the bead snaps over the safety hump. Do not exceed 275 kPa (40 psi) pressure when inflating any tire if beads are not seated. If 275 kPa (40 psi) pressure will not seat the beads, deflate, relubricate the beads and reinflate. Overinflation may cause the bead to break and cause serious personal injury.

8. Mount the tire on the wheel.
9. Inflate the tire to 275 kPa (40 psi).
10. Inspect the tire for leaks.
11. Adjust the tire pressure to specifications.
12. Balance the wheel and tire.
13. Install the wheel and tire.
