Battery Cable: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
2. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the battery.




3. Disconnect the clips at the bottom of the battery tray.
4. Disconnect the clips along the cable to the relay center and generator.
5. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the relay center.
6. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the generator.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.




1. Connect the positive battery cable to the generator.

Tighten
Tighten the positive battery cable nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

2. Connect the positive battery cable to the relay center.
3. Place the positive battery into the cable clips along the engine frame.
4. Place the positive battery into the cable clips at the battery tray.




5. Connect the positive battery cable to the battery.

Tighten
Tighten the positive battery cable to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).

6. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.

Tighten
Tighten the negative battery cable to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
