40. Drive Link and Sprockets Assemble

- Tools Required
- J 39064-1 Drive Sprocket Shaft Seal Pusher
- J 39064-2 Drive Sprocket Shaft Seal Sizer
- J 39064-3 Drive Sprocket Shaft Seal Protector





1. Inspect the driven sprocket (415) for chipped teeth, worn splines, or a rough bearing.





2. Remove the following parts:
- The turbine shaft snap ring (411)
- The drive sprocket (407)
- The drive sprocket oil seal ring (409)





3. Inspect the drive sprocket (407) for chipped teeth, worn splines, or a rough bearing





4. Install the drive sprocket (407) onto the turbine shaft (410), then install the turbine shaft snap ring (411).





5. Install the drive sprocket seal (409) onto the J 39064-3.
6. Lubricate the seal.
7. Place the seal protector onto the sprocket. Using the J 39064-1, quickly push down and install the seal.





8. Remove the seal pusher. Place the J 39064-2 over the drive sprocket oil seal (409). Leave the seal size in place until ready to install the turbine shaft into the drive sprocket support.





9. Attach the drive chain to the drive and driven sprockets in the same direction that the chain was removed.
10. Remove the ring sizer from the drive sprocket oil seal.
11. Install the drive sprocket and turbine shaft into the drive sprocket support. Line up the driven sprocket splines with the input shaft and evenly tap the drive and driven sprockets into place until seated.





12. Measure the drive chain clearance to the case rib. The clearance should be no less than 12.7 mm.

IMPORTANT: If the clearance is less than 12.7 mm, replace the drive chain.
