Wheel Bearing/Hub Replacement - Rear (With B9Q/V4U)
REAR WHEEL BEARING/HUBRemoval Procedure
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the wheel and tire.
3. Remove the brake drum.
4. Remove the brake shoes and brake cable.
5. Remove the brake line and wheel speed sensor.
6. Support the lower control arm with jack stand.
7. Remove the ball stud nut and separate the ball stud from knuckle.
8. Remove the upper knuckle nut and bolt.
9. Remove four bolts and the bearing retainer.
10. Remove the nut from the backside of the knuckle securing the hub to knuckle.
11. Press the hub from the knuckle.
12. Remove the brake backing plate from the knuckle.
13. Press the bearing from the knuckle.
14. Remove the hub and bearing.
Installation Procedure
1. Press the bearing into the knuckle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the backing plate and bearing retainer bolts.
^ Tighten the retainer bolts to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
3. Press the hub in the bearing.
4. Install the speed sensor reactor ring and nut.
^ Tighten the nut to 200 Nm (145 lb ft).
5. Install the upper knuckle bolt and nut.
^ Tighten the upper knuckle bolt and nut to 108 Nm (80 lb ft).
6. Install the ball joint to the knuckle.
7. Install the brake line and wheel speed sensor.
8. Install the brake shoes and parking cable.
9. Install the brake drum.
10. Bleed the brake system.
11. Install the wheel and tire.
^ Tighten the Wheel Nuts to 190 Nm (140 lb ft).
12. Lower the vehicle.
