Powertrain Diagnosis
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTIONThis Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECMs) internal Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM) has not been programmed with any vehicle software, or an error occurred during the programming.
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
Engine cranking
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The EEPROM has not been flashed with any vehicle software, or an error occurred during the programming.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
The ECM illuminates the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) and records the operating conditions in the Freeze Frame on the first drive trip that the diagnostic runs and fails.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
^ The ECM turns OFF the MIL after three consecutive drive trips that the diagnostic runs and passes.
^ A History DTC clears after forty consecutive warm-up cycles in which no failures are reported by this diagnostic or any other emission related diagnostic.
^ The scan tool clears the MIL/DTC.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
This DTC may be set when a replacement ECM is installed. After programming the theft deterrent frequency code, clear the ECM DTCs using the scan tool.

2. The engine may not start with this DTC set. If the fault is still present, the DTC will set during the cranking cycle.
