Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Partially drain the coolant system, refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
2. Loosen the hose clamps to remove the air intake ducts and the coolant hoses.
3. Disconnect the atmospheric vent hose from the bottom of the throttle body.
4. Remove the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove the throttle body assembly mounting bolts.
6. Remove the TP sensor throttle body assembly.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the throttle body assembly with the TP sensor. Ensure that the O-rings are properly positioned. The O-rings should seal to the intake plenum.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the mounting bolts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).
3. Install the atmospheric vent hose and the coolant hoses.
4. Install the air intake ducts and tighten the clamps.
Tighten
Tighten the clamps to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
5. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
6. Perform the Idle Learn Procedure. Refer to Idle Learn Procedure.
7. Check the engine coolant level. Refill the coolant if the reading is low. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
