Steering Control Module: Service and Repair
Removal ProcedureCaution: This vehicle Is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SM) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
- Air bag deployment
- Personal injury
- Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
- Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SM wiring.
- If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SM wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
1. Twist the self-locking screws to allow for the front of the sound insulator to drop down to remove the sound insulator.
2. Remove the power steering control module (1) from the electrical connector.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the power steering control module (1) to the electrical connector.
2. Twist the self-locking screws to attach the sound insulator to the instrument panel to install the sound insulator.
