Radiator Cooling Fan Temperature Sensor / Switch: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure- Tools Required
- J 42865 Cooling Fan Temperature Switch Socket
1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
2. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the radiator.
3. Remove the upper cooling fan control switch:
- Disconnect the cooling fan control switch connector.
- Remove the cooling fan control switch with J 42865.
4. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. Remove the lower cooling fan control switch:
- Disconnect the cooling fan control switch connector.
- Remove the cooling fan control switch with J 42865.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the lower cooling fan control switch.
2. Install the cooling fan control switch with J 42865.
Tighten the cooling fan control switch to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect the cooling fan control switch connector.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Install the upper cooling fan control switch.
6. Install the cooling fan control switch with J 42865.
Tighten the cooling fan control switch to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).
7. Connect the cooling fan control switch connector.
8. Install the radiator outlet hose to the radiator.
9. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System.
