P0602
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTIONThe PCM uses an Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM). Unlike the PROM used in earlier applications, the EEPROM is not replaceable. The only option is to replace the PCM. The replacement PCM does not contain the final program information This requires programming of the PCM using approved Techline equipment. If the replacement PCM is not programmed, DTC P0602 will set. When the DTC sets, the PCM disables the fuel pump relay, and the fuel injectors.
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
^ DTC P0601 is not set.
^ The ignition is ON.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The PCM does not contain the final software and calibration information required to operate the vehicle
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ The PCM will illuminate the malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) the first time the malfunction is detected.
^ The PCM will store conditions which were present when the DTC set as Freeze Frame and the Fail Records data
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
^ The PCM will turn the MIL OFF after the third consecutive trip in which the diagnostic runs and passes.
^ The history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles have occurred without a malfunction
^ The DTC can be cleared by using the scan tool Clear DTC Information function
TEST DESCRIPTION
