Alarm Module: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDUREIMPORTANT: The wire routing for the components inside the steering column is critical. When servicing the ignition lock cylinder, maintain proper wire routing.
It is not necessary to match the replacement Key module to the ignition key. All replacement modules automatically learn the ignition key transponder value of the first ignition key used to start the vehicle. The ignition key transponder value is learned permanently, so caution should be used to ensure that unwanted ignition key transponder values are not learned.
1. Remove the steering column lock cylinder set.
2. Remove the upper and lower shrouds.
3. Disconnect the coded key controller connector.
4. Slide the control coded key (2) from the lock module assembly (1).
5. Disconnect the connector from the bottom of the ignition and key alarm switch assembly.
6. Remove the lead inside the clip on the side of the ignition and key alarm switch assembly.
7. Remove the connector (1) from the lock module assembly (4).
8. Remove the 2 tapping screws (3) from the ignition and key alarm switch assembly (2).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notices in Service Precautions.
1. Install the ignition and key alarm switch assembly (2) and secure by using 2 tapping screws (3).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in).
2. Install the ignition and key alarm connector (1) onto the lock module assembly (4).
3. Install the green connector into the bottom of the ignition and key alarm switch assembly (2).
4. Put the lead in the clip located on the side of the ignition and key alarm switch assembly (2).
5. Install the control coded key (2) onto the lock module assembly (1).
6. Connect the coded key controller.
7. Install the upper and lower shrouds.
8. Install the steering column lock cylinder set.
