Cylinder Head Replacement - Right

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the following subassemblies:
^ The exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Left) or Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Right).
^ The water crossover. Refer to Water Crossover Replacement in Cooling System.
^ The intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
^ The camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement (Left) or Camshaft Cover Replacement (Right).
^ The engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement.
^ The secondary camshaft drive chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Removal (Right).

2. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the ECT sensor.
3. Remove the nut (3) securing the coil cassette ground wire to the cylinder head.
4. Remove the bolt securing the crossover pipe to the cylinder head.





5. Remove the nuts (3) securing the rear transaxle bracket (1) to the cylinder head.
6. Remove the bolt (2) securing the rear transaxle bracket (1) to the cylinder head.





7. Remove the bolt (1) securing the front transaxle bracket (2) to the cylinder head.
8. Loosen the bolts (3) attaching the transaxle bracket (2) to the transaxle.
9. Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal (Right).
10. Clean and inspect the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Clean and Inspect.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation (Right).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the bolt (1) securing the front transaxle bracket (2) to the cylinder head.
Tighten the bracket bolts (1,3) to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).





3. Loosely install the nuts (3) securing the rear transaxle bracket (1) to the cylinder head.
4. Install the bolt (2) securing the rear transaxle bracket (1) to the cylinder head.
Tighten the nuts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
5. Tighten the nuts installed in step 4 to 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.).





6. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the ECT sensor.
7. Install the bolt securing the crossover pipe to the cylinder head.
Tighten the bolt to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
8. Install the nut (3) securing the coil cassette ground wire to the cylinder head.
Tighten the nut to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).
9. Install the following subassemblies:
^ The secondary camshaft drive chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Installation (Right).
^ The engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement.
^ The camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement (Left) or Camshaft Cover Replacement (Right).
^ The intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
^ The water crossover. Refer to Water Crossover Replacement in Cooling System.
^ The exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Left) or Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Right).
