Timing Cover: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure1. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement.
2. Remove the drive belt idler pulley.
3. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement.
4. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
5. Support the engine assembly with a suitable jack.
6. Remove the nut securing the engine mount to the engine mount bracket.
7. Remove the nut (2) securing the power steering hose to the engine mount bracket (1).
8. Remove the bolts securing the engine mount bracket (1) to the engine.
9. Remove the front cover bolts.
10. Remove the front cover and gasket. The gasket is reusable. Do not discard unless it is damaged.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Installation.
2. Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement.
3. Install the bolts securing the engine mount bracket (1) to the engine.
Tighten the bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the nut (2) securing the power steering hose to the engine mount bracket (1).
Tighten the nut to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
5. Install the nut securing the engine mount to the engine mount bracket.
Tighten the mount nut to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.).
6. Remove the engine support jack.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Install the drive belt idler pulley.
Tighten the bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
9. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement.
