Housing Assembly HVAC: Service and Repair

HVAC MODULE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging System




1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly from the evaporator.
3. Remove the heater hoses from the heater core.
4. Remove the evaporator drain.




5. Remove the dash integration module.
6. Remove the instrument panel assembly.
7. Remove the defroster nozzle (1).
8. Disconnect the electrical connections to the HVAC module.




9. Remove the HVAC module retaining nuts.




10. Remove the HVAC module assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 39400-A Electronic Halogen Leak Detector J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging System.
- J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging System




1. Install the HVAC module assembly.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




2. Install the HVAC module retaining nuts.

Tighten
Tighten the HVAC module retaining nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

3. Install the dash integration module.
4. Reconnect the electrical connectors.




5. Install the defroster nozzle (1).




6. Install the evaporator drain.
7. Install the instrument panel assembly.
8. Install the heater hoses to the heater core.
9. Connect the evaporator hose assembly to the evaporator core.

Tighten
Tighten the evaporator hose assembly to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

10. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
11. Leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing.
