Accelerator Controls Cable Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Disconnect the accelerator control cable (2) from the accelerator controls bracket (3).




2. Disconnect the accelerator control cable (3) from the throttle body lever (2).




3. Disconnect the accelerator control cable (2) at the retainer (1) on the dash panel (bulkhead).




4. Squeeze the accelerator control cable (1) cover tangs and push the accelerator control cable through dash panel (bulkhead).




5. Remove the left closeout insulator panel.
6. Disconnect the accelerator control cable (1) at the accelerator controls pedal (3).
7. Remove the accelerator control cable.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: In order to prevent possible interference and damage, flexible components (hoses, wires, conduits, etc.) must not be routed within 50 mm (2 in) of moving parts, unless the routing is positively controlled.




1. Install the accelerator control cable (3) at the throttle body lever (2).

IMPORTANT: Accelerator control cable must be routed through groove in throttle body lever and seated securely.

2. Install the accelerator control cable (3) at the accelerator controls cable bracket (1).




3. Route the accelerator control cable (2) over the brake master cylinder and through the dash.
4. Secure the accelerator control cable (2) at the retainer (1) on the dash (bulkhead).




5. Install the accelerator control cable (1) at accelerator controls pedal (3).

IMPORTANT: Check for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating accelerator controls pedal. Also check for poor carpet fit under the accelerator controls pedal. Throttle should operate freely without bind between full closed and wide open throttle.

6. Remove the left closeout insulator panel.
