Spark Plug: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURENOTE: Allow the engine to cool before removing the spark plugs. Attempting to remove the spark plugs from a hot engine may cause the plug threads to seize, causing damage to cylinder head threads.
1. Remove the ignition coil cassettes.
2. Remove the spark plug boots.
NOTE: Refer to Clean Spark Plug Recess Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Remove the spark plugs from the cylinder heads.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Measure and adjust the gap of the spark plugs. Refer to Spark Plug Usage.
NOTE: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the spark plugs into the cylinder heads.
Tighten
Tighten the spark plugs to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
3. Install the spark plug boots onto the coil cassettes.
Ensure that the boots are fully seated against the cassette.
4. Install the ignition coil cassettes.
