Refrigerant Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair

TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACEMENT - LOW SIDE

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling, and Recharging (ACR4) System




1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the low side temperature sensor.




3. Unscrew the A/C low side temperature sensor (1) from the refrigerant line and remove the sensor from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Electronic Halogen Leak Detector




1. Ensure the low side A/C temperature (1) sensor has a O-ring installed and the O-ring is not damaged.
Lubricate the low side A/C temperature (1) with a light coating of refrigerant oil.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the A/C low side temperature (1) sensor to the refrigerant line.

Tighten
Torque the low side temperature sensor to 7.5 N.m (66 lb in).




3. Connect the electrical connector to the sensor.
4. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
5. Leak test the system. Refer to Leak Testing.
