Electronic Column Lock Module - Disassemble
Disassembly Procedure1. Remove the steering column lock cylinder set. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle.
2. Remove the upper tilt head components. Refer to Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Power Tilt/Telescope-Column Shift) or Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing inner Race - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Power Tilt/Telescope, Floor Shift) or Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Manual Tilt, Floor Shift) or Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Manual Tilt, Column Shift).
3. Remove the ignition and key alarm switch assembly and the coded key controller only. Refer to Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly -Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Power Tilt/Telescope - Column Shift) or Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Power Tilt-Telescope, Floor Shift) or Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Manual Tilt, Floor Shift) or Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle (Manual Tilt, Column Shift).
4. Insert a small screwdriver into the slot on the lock module assembly and push against the locking tab to remove the park lock cable assembly.
5. Disconnect the park lock cable assembly (1).
Important: The lock bolt assembly (4) is under slight spring tension from the lock bolt spring (3). Hold the lock bolt (4) in place while removing the lock module assembly (2).
6. Remove the 3 pan head tapping screws (1) from the lock module assembly (2).
7. Remove the lock module assembly (2) from the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
8. Remove the lock bolt assembly (4) from the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
9. Remove the lock bolt spring (3) from the lock bolt assembly (4).
