Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble

Assembly Procedure





1. Install the lock bolt spring (3) into the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
2. Position the cutout in the lock bolt assembly (4) at the 3 o'clock position.
3. Install the lock bolt assembly (4) into the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
4. Push the lock bolt assembly (4) into the steering column tilt head assembly (5) until the lock bolt assembly is flush with the steering column tilt head assembly (5).
5. Align the lock module assembly (2) with the steering column tilt head assembly (5).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

6. Screw the 3 pan head tapping screws (1) into the lock module assembly (2).
Tighten the 3 pan head tapping screws to 7 Nm (62 inch lbs.).

Important: The lower tapping screw is also used to attach the electric park lock.

7. Install the ignition and key alarm and the coded key controller only. Refer to Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Power Tilt/Telescope-Column Shift) or Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Power Tilt and Telescope, Floor Shift) or Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Manual Tilt, Floor Shift) or Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Manual Tilt, Column Shift).
8. Install the steering column lock cylinder set. Refer to Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle.
9. Install the electric park lock. Refer to Electric Park Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Manual Tilt, Floor Shift) or Electric Park Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Power Tilt, Floor Shift).
10. Install the upper tilt head components. Refer to Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Power Tilt/Telescope-Column Shift) or Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race - Assemble -Off Vehicle (Power Tilt and Telescope, Floor Shift) or Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Manual Tilt, Floor Shift) or Turn Signal Cancel Cam and Upper Bearing Inner Race - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Manual Tilt, Column Shift).
