Steering Column Trim Covers
Removal Procedure1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
2. Remove the steering column closeout (1).
3. Remove the two TORX(R) head screws from the lower shroud cover (2).
4. Remove the steering column retaining nuts.
5. Lower the steering column.
6. Remove the lower column shroud (1).
7. Remove the torx screw (2) from the upper cover.
8. Remove the upper column shroud.
Installation Procedure
1. Install upper shroud (1).
2. install the upper TORX(R) screw (2) to the upper cover.
3. Install the lower column shroud (1).
4. Ensure that the tabs (2) on the lower shroud engage with the tabs on the upper shroud then snap them together.
Tighten the two TORX(R) screws to 1.5 Nm (13 inch lbs.).
5. Install the steering column and retainers to the instrument panel.
Tighten to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the steering column closeout shroud (1).
7. If all service operations are completed enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
8. Install the knee bolster.
