Due to a design change for 2000 MY vehicles, there may be some confusion as to the correct fuel sender seal for the above mentioned vehicles. When ordering a replacement part, use the following figures and tables to assist in identifying the proper fuel sender seal replacement part.

In addition, the applicable fuel tank assembly part numbers are provided. The part numbers are molded into the bottom LH rear corner of the tank assembly.

H-Style Seal - P/N 25712454

For use on fuel tank assembly, P/N 25712455.

Use the H-style seal, P/N 25712454, for vehicles built AFTER and INCLUDING the VIN breakpoints as shown.

The H-style seal is to be used ONLY on vehicles that have an existing H-style seal installed and a fuel tank with a retaining wall as shown in Figure 1.

Service Seal - P/N 25721332

For use on fuel tank assemblies, P/N 's 25696212 and 25641811.

For vehicles listed below that have an existing O-ring style seal installed, the O-ring style seal has been cancelled and a new service seal, P/N 25721332, is now available as the replacement part.

Use the service seal, P/N 25721332, for vehicles built BEFORE the VIN breakpoints as shown.

The service seal is to be used ONLY on vehicles that have an existing O-ring seal installed.

In addition use the service seal, P/N 25721332, for the following vehicles:

Year/Model
1998-1999 Buick Park Avenue, Riviera
1998-1999 Cadillac Seville
1998-1999 Oldsmobile Aurora

Important:
^ The H-style seal is NOT interchangeable with the O-ring style seal or the service seal.

^ It is essential that the repair be verified in order to reduce customer returns. After the seal replacement is complete, use the J 41413 EVAP Pressure/Purge Diagnostic Station.

^ It is important to use the required tools listed in the Service Manuals. Special tools, such as the J 41413 EVAP Pressure/Purge Diagnostic Station for a clean, dry, low pressure gas source; the J 39765 Fuel Sender Lock Nut Wrench and the J 41416 Ultrasonic Leak Detector, are needed in order to avoid unnecessary component replacement.
