Shifter A/T: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure^ Tools Required

1. Remove the console trim plate. Refer to Trim Plate Replacement-IP Accessory Right in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
2. Remove the left side console trim plate.
3. If equipped with RPO Code (T1A), remove the anti-theft plate and tamper proof fastener from the shifter using the J-43146 tamper proof bit.
4. Unsnap the shift cable terminal from the shifter pin.
5. Remove the shift cable bolt and cable from the shifter.
6. Disconnect the BTSI wire harness connector from the BTSI solenoid.
7. Disengage the locking tab on the park lock cable and lift the cable out of the slot in the shifter.
8. Unhook the park lock cable from the park lock cam on the shifter.
9. Disconnect the shifter backlight wire harness connector.
10. Remove the shifter fasteners.
11. Spread the console side panels apart and remove the shifter assembly.
Installation Procedure
1. Spread the console side panels apart and install the shifter assembly.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the shifter fasteners.
^ Tighten the shifter fasteners to Nm (79 inch lbs.).
3. Connect the shifter backlight wire harness connector.
4. Insert the park lock cable into the park lock cam on the shifter.
5. Slide the park lock cable into the shifter and assure that the cable locking tab is fully engaged.
6. Connect the BTSI solenoid wire harness connector.
7. Snap the shift cable terminal onto the shifter pin.
8. Fasten the shift cable to the shifter.
^ Tighten the shift cable fastener to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
9. Adjust the shift cable as follows.
9.1. Place the shifter into the N (neutral) position.
9.2. Loosen the shifter adjuster nut.
9.3. Tighten the adjuster nut.
Tighten the adjuster nut to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
10. If equipped with RPO Code (T1A), install the anti-theft plate and tamper proof fastener onto the shifter using the J-43146 tamper proof bit.
11. Install the left side console trim plate (1).
12. Install the console trim plate (1). Refer to Trim Plate Replacement-IP Accessory Right in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
