Master Cylinder
This master cylinder is a composite design of a plastic reservoir and aluminum body. Using a diagonally split system of one front and one diagonally opposite front and rear brake served by a primary piston. The opposite front and rear brakes are served by the secondary piston. It incorporates the functions of a standard dual master cylinder as well as a fluid level sensor switch and front reservoir access for use with Traction Control.Important:
- Replace all components included in repair kits used to service this master cylinder. Lubricate rubber parts with clean brake fluid to ease assembly.
- Do not use lubricated shop air on brake parts as damage too rubber components may result.
- It may be necessary to bleed all or part of the brake system if any hydraulic component is removed or disconnected.
- The torque values specified are for dry unlubricated fasteners.
- Perform service operations on a clean bench free from all mineral oil materials
Proportioning Valve Description
The brake proportioning valves improve front to rear brake balance under severe brake application. Severe brake application transfers part of the vehicle rear weight to the front wheels. The resulting decrease in weight to the rear wheels can cause reduced braking efficiency. The valves limit the pressure to the rear brakes to reduce the tendency for reduced brake efficiency.
