Cylinder Head Replacement - Left

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the following subassemblies:
^ The exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Left) or Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Right).
^ The generator. Refer to Generator Replacement.
^ The water crossover. Refer to Water Crossover Replacement in Cooling System.
^ The intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
^ The camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement (Left) or Camshaft Cover Replacement (Right).
^ The engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement.
^ The secondary camshaft drive chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Replacement.
2. Remove the power steering return hose retaining bolt from the cylinder head.
3. Remove the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Removal (Left) in Engine / Service and Repair / Unit Repair.
4. Clean and inspect the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Clean and Inspect in Engine / Service and Repair / Unit Repair.

Installation Procedure
1. Install the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation (Left) in Engine / Service and Repair / Unit Repair.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





2. Install the power steering return hose retaining bolt to the cylinder head.
Tighten the bolt to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the following subassemblies:
^ The secondary camshaft drive chain. Refer to Secondary Camshaft Drive Chain Replacement.
^ The engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement.
^ The camshaft cover. Refer to Camshaft Cover Replacement (Left) or Camshaft Cover Replacement (Right).
^ The intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
^ The water crossover. Refer to Water Crossover Replacement in Cooling System.
^ The generator. Refer to Generator Replacement.
^ The exhaust manifold. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Left) or Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Right).
