AVG MPH

The AVG MPH message is an indication of the vehicle's average road speed since the last reset of the parameter. The average speed parameter is displayed in either English XXX.X AVG MPH or Metric XXX.X AVG km/h units. This message may be suppressed by using the override option E.

Refer to Vehicle Diagnostic System. The IPC uses the following equation in order to calculate the average speed parameter:

(Average Speed) = (Total Distance Traveled) I (Total Time) (with the ignition in the RUN position).

In order to reset, display the AVG MPH message on the driver message center and press the INFO RESET button for at least 1 second. The data used in order to calculate the average speed is lost if a battery disconnect occurs.
