Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove vacuum hose.
2. Remove the camshaft sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove the camshaft retaining bolt.
4. Remove heater hose for clearance.
5. Remove the camshaft sensor.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: Inspect the camshaft sensor O-ring for wear or damage. If a problem is found, replace the O-ring.

1. Lubricate the camshaft O-ring with engine oil.
2. Install the camshaft sensor and retaining bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the retaining bolt between 8-11 N.m (70-100 lb in).

Refer to Fastener Notice in Service and Precautions.

3. Reconnect the camshaft sensor electrical connector.
4. Operate the engine and inspect the camshaft sensor for engine oil leaks.
