Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor: Service and Repair

TOOLS REQUIRED

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
^ In order to Reduce the Risk of Personal Injury: Always allow for proper ventilation when working with fuel in enclosed areas.
^ Refer to Safety Goggles and Fuel Caution in Service and Precautions.





1. Relieve the fuel system fuel pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure. Service and Repair
2. Drain the fuel tank to at least 3/4 of a tank full. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining Procedure. Procedures
3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
4. Remove the fuel tank.




5. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the modular fuel sender.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector at the fuel tank pressure sensor.
7. Remove the clip from the fuel tank pressure sensor.
8. Remove the fuel tank pressure sensor (1) from the modular fuel sender.
9. Clean the fuel sender assembly O-ring sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the fuel tank pressure sensor into the modular fuel sender.
2. Reinstall the clip to the fuel tank pressure sensor.
3. Connect the electrical connector at the fuel tank pressure sensor.
4. Connect the modular fuel sender electrical connector at the fuel tank.




5. Reinstall the fuel tank, with the aid of an assistant. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement. Removal and Replacement




6. Add fuel to the fuel tank.
7. Install the fuel tank filler pipe cap (1).

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service and Precautions.

8. Install the negative battery cable.
9. Inspect for leaks.
9.1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
9.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
9.3. Turn ON the ignition.
9.4. Check for fuel leaks.




10. Install the fuel injector shield (1) to the engine.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service and Precautions.

11. Install the fuel injector sight shield nuts (2).

Tighten
Tighten the nuts 3 N.m (27 lb in).
