Subject:
Inoperative/Intermittent LH Power Window Switch After Using Express
Down Feature (Replace Side Window Switch Assembly)
Models:
2000 Cadillac Eldorado and ETC
Condition
Some customers may comment that the LH side door power window switch may not close the window after using the Express Down window feature to open the window. However, after approximately one minute, the customer may be able to close the window by using the power side door window switch.
Cause
During the Express Down operation, when the LH side window reaches the full down position, the window regulator motor stalls. The LH power window switch senses the stall and turns off the window regulator motor. If the LH power window switch does not sense the stall, the window regulator motor is not turned off and a temperature increase develops until the window regulator motor thermal circuit breaker opens. The LH power window switch is ineffective until the window regulator motor thermal circuit breaker has cooled and has closed.
Correction
Modifications to the side window switch assembly have resulted in the correction of this condition. Replace the side window switch assembly, P/N 25668565.
Refer to Power Window Switch Replacement in the Doors sub-section of the Service Manual for the replacement procedures.
Important:
The part number for the side window switch assembly has not changed.
New switches will have a stamped date code of 9292 or higher.
