Negative: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION:
^ This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
^ Air bag deployment
^ Personal Injury
^ Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
^ Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
^ If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
^ Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Record all of the vehicle away preset radio stations (if applicable). Refer to Radio/Audio System Operation in Entertainment.
2. Turn OFF all the lamps and accessories.
3. Make sure the ignition switch is OFF.
4. Remove the negative battery cable from the battery. Refer to Jump Starting in Case of Emergency.Service and Repair
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
IMPORTANT: Clean any existing oxidation from the contact face of the battery terminal and battery cable using a wire brush before installing the battery cable to the battery terminal.
1. Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.
Tighten
Tighten the battery ground (negative) terminal bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
2. Refer to Radio/Audio System Operation in Entertainment in order to perform the following:
^ Program the away preset radio stations back into the radio as recorded at the beginning of the procedure.
^ Set the clock to the current time.
