Removal Procedure

- J 1859-03 Steering Wheel Puller

Caution: Refer to SIR Service Precautions Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
3. Remove the nut that secures the steering column shaft.
4. Use the J 1859-03 in order to remove the steering wheel.

Installation Procedure

1. Feed the coil assembly lead through the slot in the steering wheel.
2. Install the steering wheel to the column shaft.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the nut in order to secure the steering column shaft.
- Tighten the shaft nut to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
5. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
