Expansion Block/Orifice Tube: Service and Repair
EXPANSION (ORIFICE) TUBE REPLACEMENTREMOVAL PROCEDURE
TOOLS REQUIRED
^ J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging System
^ J 38042 Dual O-Ring Tube Separator
1. Recover the refrigerant from the system Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. Service and Repair
2. Loosen the O-ring joint.
3. Separate the tubing halves.
4. Remove the expansion tube.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Electronic Halogen Leak Detector
1. Lubricate the O-ring with 525 refrigerant.
2. Install the expansion tube.
3. Connect the O-ring joint.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions. Service Precautions
4. Tighten the dual O-ring joint.
Tighten
Tighten the dual O-ring joint to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
5. Reposition the tube to its original position.
6. Recharge the refrigerant system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging. Service and Repair
7. Leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing. Leak Testing - HVAC System - Automatic
