Tools Required
J 42801 Door Hinge Pin Remover and Installer
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disable the SIR system, if equipped with the SIR side impact system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
2. Tape the edges of the door and the fender in order to prevent damage when removing.
3. Remove the rubber conduit. Refer to Front Side Door Wiring Conduit Replacement (Front Side Door Wiring Conduit Replacement).
4. Disconnect the front door electrical connectors to the door.
5. Remove the wiring harness from the front pillar.
6. Support the door with a suitable stand.
7. Remove the check link. Refer to Front Side Door Check Link Replacement (Service and Repair).
8. Remove the hinge pins using the J 42801 .
9. Remove the weather caps from the pins.
10. Insert the J 42801 around the hinge collar while tapping each pin lightly with a hammer until the hinge pin release.
11. Remove the door with the aid of a assistant.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the door with aid of a assistant.
2. Install the hinge pins:
* Insert the J 42801 around the hinge collar while using a small hammer to tap each pin into the hinge hole.
* Install the weather caps.
3. Remove the door support.
4. Inspect the door to body alignment.
5. Install the check link. Refer to Front Side Door Check Link Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Install the front pillar wiring harness.
7. Connect all electrical connectors that were removed.
8. Install the rubber conduit. Refer to Front Side Door Wiring Conduit Replacement (Front Side Door Wiring Conduit Replacement).
9. Remove the tape from the door and the fender.
10. Enable the SIR system, if equipped with the SIR side impact system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
