Engine Cooling Fan Control Switch Replacement (Lower)

- J 42865 Cooling Fan Temperature Switch Socket

Removal Procedure

1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
3. Remove the engine splash shield retaining bolts and the engine splash shield.
4. Disconnect the cooling fan control switch electrical connector.
5. Remove the cooling fan control switch with the J 42865.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the cooling fan control switch.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the cooling fan control switch with the J 42865.
Tighten the cooling fan control switch to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect the cooling fan control switch electrical connector.
4. Install the engine splash shield.
5. Install the engine splash shield retaining bolts.
Tighten the engine splash shield retaining bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Fill the cooling system.
