72. Camshaft Drive Sprocket Installation

Camshaft Drive Sprocket Installation

^ Tools Required
- J 36660-A Torque/Angle Meter

Important: The camshaft drive sprockets have numbered slots that must be aligned with the pins on the camshafts.





When the numbered camshaft drive sprocket slot is properly installed on the camshaft pin, the reference mark near the gear of the drive sprocket, will align with the notch on the engine rear cover (1,2,3,4).
1. Install the camshaft drive sprockets.
Ensure the camshaft pins are installed in the correct numbered slot on the drive sprockets.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Important: Use new camshaft drive sprocket bolts, the old bolts are not reusable.





2. Install the camshaft drive sprocket bolts with washers.
^ Use the relevant J 42069-1 or the J 42069-2 to hold the camshaft drive sprockets and the camshafts in place while tightening the camshaft drive sprocket bolts.
^ Use the J 36660-A to tighten the camshaft drive sprocket bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) on the first pass, 60 degrees on the second pass and 15 degrees on the third pass.
