Drive Belt ReplacementRemoval Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove 4 engine splash shield bolts.
3. Remove engine splash shield.
4. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe bracket nut (6) from the generator mounting bolt. It may be necessary to hold the generator bolt on the back side of the generator when removing the nut (6).
5. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe bushing nut (1), located on the left side of the engine, from the bracket.
6. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe clamps from the rubber hose connections (2).
7. Remove the AIR injection crossover pipe from the rubber hose connections.
8. Remove the A/C compressor hose strap bolt (1).
9. Position the AIR injection crossover pipe (4) out of the way to enable removal of the drive belt.
10. Use a 15 mm wrench on center bolt of the tensioner pulley (5) and rotate clockwise to release drive belt tension.
11. Slide the belt (7) from the water pump pulley and remove.
Installation Procedure
1. Refer to the drive belt routing diagram to install the serpentine drive belt.
2. Clean the drive belt surfaces and accessory drive pulleys.
Important: Ensure the drive belt is properly aligned and seated into the grooves of the accessory drive pulleys.
3. Rotate the drive belt tensioner clockwise.
4. Route the drive belt over the top of the water pump pulley last.
5. Release the drive belt tensioner and inspect the drive belt for proper seating in the accessory drive pulleys.
6. Reposition the AIR injection crossover pipe (4).
7. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe to the rubber hose connections (2).
8. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe clamps to the rubber hose connections.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
9. Install the A/C compressor hose strap bolt (1).
Tighten the A/C compressor hose support strap bolt to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.).
10. Install the AIR injection crossover pipe bushing nut (6) to the generator bolt.
Tighten the AIR injection crossover pipe bushing nut to 12 Nm (108 inch lbs.).
11. Counterhold the generator bolt on the back side of the generator to tighten the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket nut to the generator bolt.
Tighten the AIR injection crossover pipe support bracket nut (generator bolt) to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
12. Install the engine splash shield.
13. Install the 4 engine splash shield bolts.
Tighten the engine splash shield bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
