Ignition Coil(S) Replacement - Bank 2

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 43301 Coil Pack Remover

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the wiring harness channel bolts (1) from the intake plenum.
2. Remove the vacuum supply fitting (2) from the intake plenum.
3. Remove the A/C bracket.
4. Remove the oil filter extension.
5. Disconnect the CMP sensor electrical connector.
6. Remove the plastic vacuum lines from the wiring harness channel.
7. Position the wiring channel out of the way.
8. Disconnect the coil pack electrical connector.
9. Remove the coil pack retainer bolts.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT overtighten the J 43301.




10. Thread the J 43301 into the coil pack.
11. With even pressure, lift and remove the coil pack.




12. Remove the coil pack.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Inspect the coil pack seals and spark plug boots for damage or wear.
Replace as necessary.
2. Align the spark plug boots with the spark plugs.
3. Carefully press and seat the coil pack in place.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

4. Install the coil pack retainer bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the coil pack retainer bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb in).

5. Connect the coil pack electrical connector.




6. Reposition the wiring channel.
7. Install the plastic vacuum lines in the wiring harness channel.
8. Connect the CMP sensor electrical connector.
9. Install the A/C bracket.
10. Install the vacuum supply fitting (2) to the intake manifold.
11. Install the wiring harness channel bolts (1).

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 8 N.m (71 lb in).
