Shift Solenoid Position Sensor/Switch: Adjustments
Switch Adjustment1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Position the selector to N.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
4. Remove the shift position switch shield.
5. Remove the nut form the range selector lever.
6. Disconnect the shift position switch electrical connector.
7. Connect a multimeter (ohms scale) to terminal E and H on the shift position switch electrical connector.
8. Loosen both shift position switch bolts.
9. Rotate the shift position switch slightly in both directions to determine the range of continuity (approximately 5 degrees).
10. Position the shift position switch in the middle of the continuity range.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
11. Tighten the shift position switch switch bolts.
^ Tighten the shift position switch bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
12. Remove the multimeter.
13. Install the shift position switch wire harness connector. Use a plastic tie strap if the connector clip is broken.
14. Install the range selector lever.
^ Tighten the range selector lever nut to 8 Nm (71 inch lbs.).
15. Install the shift position switch shield.
16. Lower the vehicle.
