Ignition Lock Cylinder

Ignition Lock Cylinder Replacement - On Vehicle

Removal Procedure





1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the steering wheel inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Restraint Systems.
3. Remove the steering wheel.
4. Remove the tilt lever.
5. Remove the screw caps from the upper steering column cover.
6. Remove the screws from the upper steering column cover.
7. Remove the upper steering column cover.





8. Remove the screws from the lower steering column cover.
9. Remove the lower steering column cover.
10. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement in Restraint Systems.
11. Remove the turn signal switch.





12. Insert a small pointed awl or wire into the ignition lock cylinder release pin hole.
13. Pull out the ignition lock cylinder.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the lock cylinder:
- Look into the hole that receives the ignition lock cylinder on the lower RH side in order to locate the locking lever.
- Carefully push down on the locking lever using a small flat-bladed tool until an audible click is heard.
- Install the ignition lock cylinder.
2. Install the turn signal switch.





3. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement in Restraint Systems.
4. Install the lower steering column cover.
5. Install the screws to the lower steering column cover.





6. Install the upper steering column cover.
7. Install the screws to the upper steering column cover.
8. Install the screw caps to the upper steering column cover.
9. Install the tilt lever.
10. Install the steering wheel.
11. Install the steering wheel inflator module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Restraint Systems.
12. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
