Output Shaft Seal Replacement

- J 26234 Seal Installer

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the wheel drive shaft.

Important: Do not damage the differential housing or the differential carrier side bearing outer race.

3. Remove the seal from the differential using a suitable tool.





4. Inspect the sealing surface (1) of the wheel drive shaft.
5. Remove any nicks or burrs with a crocus cloth.
If any imperfections cannot be removed by light polishing the wheel drive shaft should be replaced.

Installation Procedure





1. Lubricate the lip of the new seal with rear axle lubricant.
2. Use the J26234 in order to install the oil seal (1).
3. Install the wheel drive shaft.
4. Inspect and fill the lubricant as necessary.
