Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) - Sensor Programming

^ Tool Required
- J 41760 Tire Pressure Monitor(TPM) Programming Tool.

The Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) system interfaces with the instrument panel cluster (IPC) through the serial data line. Once the program mode is accessed through the RCDLR, each sensor's unique identification code can be programmed into the receiver's memory. Each sensor must transmit the unique code in the proper sequence. A magnet must be held close to the sensor in order to force the sensor to transmit the identification code. The receiver also sends a message to the Dash Integration Module (DIM) to sound the horn one time, indicating that the sensor properly transmitted an identification code. If the programming sequence is canceled before any sensor is programmed, or if the vehicle's battery is disconnected, the receiver will remember all current identification codes. As soon as the receiver learns the first sensor identification code, all previously stored codes are erased from the receiver's memory.

Programming TPM Sensors

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Important: If the TPM learn mode cannot be enabled, ensure the TPM option is enabled in the RCDLR, refer to Scan Tool Output Controls.

2. Simultaneously press the keyless entry transmitter's lock and unlock buttons until a horn chirp sounds, indicating the mode has been enabled.

Important: If the horn chirp does not sound after 15 seconds, remove then replace the sensor activating tool over the valve stem.

3. Starting with the left front tire, hold the J 41760 sensor activating tool over the left front valve stem until a horn chirp sounds.
4. After the horn chirp sounds. proceed as in step 3 to the next sensors in the following order.

^ Right Front Tire
^ Right Rear Tire
^ Left Rear Tire

5. After the left front sensor Id is learned, a double horn chirp will sound, indicating all 4 sensor Id's have been learned.
6. Turn OFF the ignition.
