REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling And Storage Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Move the seat to the full forward position.
3. Remove the seat back trim panel (2) from seat (1).




4. Remove the seat back cover J channels (1).




5. Remove the foam (1) that covers the side air bag fasteners (2).

IMPORTANT: Do not remove the center fastener from side impact module inflator. If center fastener is removed this could cause the side air bag to deploy improperly, or unnecessary air bag system repairs.




6. Remove top and bottom fasteners (1) only, from inflatable restraint side impact inflator module.




7. Remove the inflatable restraint side impact inflator module (1) from seat (2).
8. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) (4) from the inflatable restraint side impact inflator module electrical connector (5).
9. disconnect the electrical connector (5) from inflatable restraint side impact inflator module (1).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: After a deployment or replacement of the inflatable restraint side impact module, the module retainer (6) must be replaced in order to insure proper inflator module positioning.




1. Install a new inflatable restraint retainer (6) to inflatable restraint side impact inflator module (1).
2. Connect the electrical connector (5) to the inflatable restraint side impact inflator module (1).
3. Install the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) (4) to the inflatable restraint side impact inflator module electrical connector (5).
4. Install the inflatable restraint side impact inflator module (1) to seat (2).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




5. Install the two fasteners (1) to the inflatable restraint side impact inflator module.

Tighten
Tighten the inflatable restraint front seat module fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).




6. Install the foam (1) that covers the side air bag fasteners (2).




7. Install the J channel (1) to the seat frame.




8. Install the seat back trim panel (2)10 seat (1).
9. Return the seat to original position.
10. Enable the SIR system.
