Coupling Replacement - Antenna Inner
REMOVAL PROCEDUREIMPORTANT:
^ To obtain maximum adhesion between the new cellular exterior base or interior coupling and the glass surface, the base, coupling and glass must be kept dry and above 15°C (60°F) during the installation and for the 24 hours immediately following the installation. Not keeping the vehicle dry and above the temperature listed for 24 hours may result in the new cellular antenna exterior base or interior coupling coming off.
^ Do not attempt to reinstall the original cellular antenna exterior base or interior coupling using any type of glue, adhesive tapes, etc. Doing so may eliminate the cellular signal transfer through the glass and reduce the maximum performance of the system that includes air bag deployment notification.
1. Disconnect the coaxial cable from the internal coupling box (1).
NOTE: Refer to Avoid damage to grid lines Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Use a razor blade or a putty knife in order to cut the double back tape material (3) while lifting up on the internal antenna coupling (1).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Clean the interior glass and the antenna coupling (2) with alcohol.
2. Dry the glass thoroughly using a lint tree cloth.
IMPORTANT:
^ The RF connections for the interior antenna coupling (2) should run parallel to the defogger gridline.
^ Ensure the inner and outer antenna couplings are aligned.
3. Align the interior antenna coupling (2) with the exterior antenna coupling (5) approximately 152 mm (6 in) from the right window edge midway between the antenna gridline and the defogger gridline.
4. Press firmly on all 4 corners in order to ensure proper bonding between the adhesive and the glass.
5. Connect the coaxial cable to the interior coupling (2).
