Rear Door Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Standard) (Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Standard)) .
2. Remove the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the garnish molding. Refer to Rear Door Opening Frame Garnish Molding Replacement () .
5. Remove the window inner belt sealing strip. Refer to Rear Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement (Service and Repair) .
6. Remove the window channel. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Front Channel Replacement (Rear Side Door Window Front Channel Replacement) .
7. Remove the window. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Replacement (Service and Repair) .
8. Remove the window regulator. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Regulator Replacement Service and Repair
9. Remove the energy absorber pad.
10. Remove the latch. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
11. Remove the outside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Outside Handle Replacement (Service and Repair) .
12. Remove the window run channel/stationary window. Refer to Rear Side Door Stationary Window and Front Channel Replacement (Rear Side Door Stationary Window and Front Channel Replacement) .
13. Remove the reveal molding. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Reveal Molding Replacement () .
14. Remove the weatherstrip. Refer to Rear Door Weatherstrip Replacement (Service and Repair) .
15. Remove the front auxiliary sealing strip. Refer to Rear Side Door Front Auxiliary Weatherstrip Replacement (Rear Side Door Front Auxiliary Weatherstrip Replacement) .
16. Remove the bottom auxiliary sealing strip. Refer to Rear Side Door Bottom Auxiliary Sealing Strip Replacement (Rear Side Door Bottom Auxiliary Sealing Strip Replacement) .
17. Remove the check link from the door. Refer to Rear Side Door Check Link Replacement (Service and Repair) .




18. Remove the door wire harness conduit (1) from the center pillar.
19. Disconnect the door wire harness (1) from the body wire harness (2).




20. Remove the intermediate hinge fasteners (1) from both hinges.
21. With the aid of an assistant, lift the door in order to remove the door from the vehicle.
22. Remove the door hinges. Refer to Rear Side Door Hinge Replacement (Service and Repair) .




23. Remove the wiring harness clips (2) from the inner door panel.
24. Remove the rubber conduit and wiring harness (1) from the door.
25. Remove all the plastic nuts and retainers from the door shell.



Installation Procedure

1. Install all the retainers into the door shell that were removed during disassembly.




2. Install the door wiring harness clips (2) to the inner door panel.
3. Route the wiring harness (1) and conduit into the door.
4. Install the door hinges. Refer to Rear Side Door Hinge Replacement (Service and Repair) .
5. Align the door hinge halves.
6. Lower the door so the hinge halves mate together.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.


Important: Use LOCTITE(R) Blue GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent prior to installing the fasteners.


7. Install the intermediate door hinge fasteners (1).

Tighten the fasteners to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

8. Install the check link. Refer to Rear Side Door Check Link Replacement (Service and Repair) .




9. Connect the door wire harness (1) to the body wire harness (2).
10. Install the door wire harness conduit (1) into the center pillar.
11. Install the bottom auxiliary sealing strip. Refer to Rear Side Door Bottom Auxiliary Sealing Strip Replacement (Rear Side Door Bottom Auxiliary Sealing Strip Replacement) .
12. Install the front auxiliary sealing strip. Refer to Rear Side Door Front Auxiliary Weatherstrip Replacement (Rear Side Door Front Auxiliary Weatherstrip Replacement) .
13. Install the weatherstrip. Refer to Rear Door Weatherstrip Replacement (Service and Repair) .
14. Install the reveal molding. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Reveal Molding Replacement () .
15. Install the window run channel/stationary window. Refer to Rear Side Door Stationary Window and Front Channel Replacement (Rear Side Door Stationary Window and Front Channel Replacement) .
16. Install the outside door handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Outside Handle Replacement (Service and Repair) .
17. Install the latch. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
18. Install the energy absorber pad.
19. Install the window regulator. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Regulator Replacement Service and Repair
20. Install the window. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Replacement (Service and Repair) .
21. Install the window channel. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Front Channel Replacement (Rear Side Door Window Front Channel Replacement) .
22. Install the window inner belt sealing strip. Refer to Rear Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement (Service and Repair) .
23. Install the garnish molding. Refer to Rear Door Opening Frame Garnish Molding Replacement () .
24. Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement (Service and Repair) .
25. Install the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement (Service and Repair) .
26. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Standard) (Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Standard)) .
27. Check the door for proper adjustment. Refer to Door Adjustment (Adjustments) .
