Front Seat Recliner Actuator Motor Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer toSIR Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Remove the front bucket seat. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement (Bucket Seat Replacement) .
2. Remove the seat back trim cover. Refer to Front Seat Back Trim Replacement (Front Seat Back Trim Replacement) .




3. Remove the push pin retainer (1) from the edge of the lower seat belt retractor trim cover (2).
4. Release the rear of the lower seat belt retractor trim cover (2), and remove the trim cover (2).




5. Remove the retainer clip from the recliner motor end of the recliner shaft.




6. Slide the recliner shaft out of the recliner motor, (outboard side) far enough to clear the recliner motor, and the recliner sensor if equipped with memory seat .
7. From beneath the seat, disconnect the electrical connector for the recliner motor, and the recliner sensor if equipped.
8. Release the recliner sensor from the recliner motor, if equipped.




9. Remove the fastener from the recliner motor.




10. Remove the recliner motor from the seat back frame.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the recliner motor to the seat back frame.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the recliner motor fastener.

Tighten the fastener to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

3. Connect the recliner motor electrical connector.




4. If the vehicle is equipped with memory seats, install the recliner sensor to the recliner motor.
The recliner sensor snaps onto the recliner motor.
5. Slide the recliner shaft back through the recliner sensor, if equipped, and the recliner motor.
6. Connect the recliner sensor electrical connector, if equipped.




7. Install the retaining clip to the recliner shaft.
8. Install the seat back trim cover. Refer to Front Seat Back Trim Replacement (Front Seat Back Trim Replacement) .




9. Install the lower seat belt retractor trim cover (2).
10. Install the push pin fastener (1)
11. Install the front bucket seat. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement (Bucket Seat Replacement) .
12. Calibrate the seat. Refer to Memory Seat Calibration. Service and Repair
