REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling And Storage Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disable the SIR system.
2. Remove the rear seat back.




3. Removal of driver or passenger rear side inflatable restraint inflator module use the same procedure.
4. Remove the rear side inflator module fasteners (4) from vehicle (1).
5. Remove the rear side inflator module (5) from the vehicle (1).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install new rear side inflator module (5) to body panel (1).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

IMPORTANT: When reinstalling or replacing rear side inflator module (rear air bag) apply thread locking compound GM P/N 12345493 or equivalent to the threads of the studs.

2. Install the rear side inflator module mounting fasteners (4).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

3. Connect the rear side inflator module wiring harness (3) to vehicle wiring harness (2).
4. Install the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) to rear side air bag connector (2, 3).
5. Install rear side air bag connector assembly retaining clip back in place.




6. Install the rear seat back.
7. Enable the SIR system.
