Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing & Jacket - Assemble

Important: Use the alignment marks from the disassemble procedure. Failure to assemble properly will cause the steering wheel to be turned 180 degrees.





1. Apply lithium grease to the race and upper shaft assembly.
2. Align the marks on the race and upper shaft assembly with the lower shaft assembly.
3. Install the lower shaft assembly to the race and upper shaft assembly.





4. Install the steering shaft assembly (2) into the tilt head assembly (1).





5. Install the steering column tilt head assembly (1) and the steering shaft assembly (3) into the steering column support assembly (2).

Important: Replace the steering column support assembly if the steering column support assembly has been staked 3 times.





6. Lubricate the pivot pins with synthetic grease. Install the 2 pivot pins onto the steering column support assembly. Stake the pins in 3 places.





7. Install the following parts onto the steering column support assembly:
7.1. The retaining ring (5).
7.2. The dual triangle sensor assembly (4).
7.3. The sensor retainer (3).
7.4. The steering shaft seal (2).
7.5. The boot (1).
8. Install the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly only. Refer to Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
9. Install the wire harness assembly only. Refer to Wire Harness Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
10. Install the tilt spring only. Refer to Tilt Spring - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
11. Install the lock module assembly. Refer to Electronic Column Lock Module - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
