Headlamp: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Halogen bulbs contain gas under pressure. Handling a bulb improperly could cause it to shatter into flying glass fragments. To help avoid personal injury:
^ Turn off the lamp switch and allow the bulb to cool before changing the bulb.
^ Leave the lamp switch OFF until the bulb change is complete.
^ Always wear eye protection when changing a halogen bulb.
^ Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass.
^ Keep dirt and moisture off the bulb.
^ Properly dispose of the used bulb
^ Keep halogen bulbs out of the reach of children.





1. Remove the upper filler panel.
2. Remove the [1][2]turn signal lamp assembly.




3. Remove the fasteners retaining the headlamp capsule (5) to the headlamp housing panel (2).
4. Partially remove the headlamp capsule.
5. Disconnect the headlamp bulbs from the capsule.
6. Remove the capsule (5).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the headlamp bulbs to the headlamp capsule
2. Insert the tabs on the capsule in the slots in the housing (2).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the fasteners in order to retain the headlamp capsule (5) to the headlamp housing panel.

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 6 N.m (53 lb in).




4. Install the [1][2]turn signal lamp.
5. Install the upper filler panel.
