Ignition Switch Replacement-On Vehicle

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
2. Remove the steering column.
3. Remove the headlamp dimmer switch.





4. Remove the headlamp dimmer switch and ignition switch retaining stud (3).
5. Remove the ignition switch.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector to the ignition switch.

Installation Procedure





1. Connect the electrical connector to the electrical switch.
2. Install the ignition switch to the steering column.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the headlamp dimmer switch and ignition switch retaining stud.
- Tighten the headlamp dimmer switch and ignition switch retaining stud to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).
4. Install the headlamp dimmer switch.
5. Install the steering column.
6. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in Restraint Systems.
