B2719
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTIONThe body control module (BCM) runs a test in order to determine whether the rear compartment lid tamper switch is active. This test is run every 1.0 second while the BCM is awake.
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
The body control module (BCM) is awake. The BCM cannot have DTC B1982 or B1983 set as a current code. The theft deterrent system is in one of the following states:
^ OFF
^ Idle
^ Ready to arm
^ Arm initiated
^ Arm delay
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The BCM determines that the rear compartment lid tamper switch has been active for 2 seconds.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ The body control module (BCM) sets DTC B2719 as current, but the BCM still allows the arming of the theft deterrent system, disregarding the input of the rear compartment lid tamper switch.
^ The security indicator does not illuminate.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
^ The BCM determines that the rear compartment lid switch is no longer active and that the ignition switch has been cycled from OFF to ON.
^ A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present.
^ Use a scan tool.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
The following conditions may activate the system intermittently. Refer to Testing for Intermittent and Poor Connections in Diagrams.
^ A corroded rear compartment lid tamper switch connector.
^ The retainer is not firmly installed to the cylinder.
TEST DESCRIPTION
Steps 1-9:
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. Verifies the fault is present.
3. Test for a faulty rear compartment lid tamper switch.
4. Tests the rear compartment lid tamper switch signal circuit for a short to ground.
5. Verifies the rear compartment lid tamper switch retainer is properly seated.
